On the afternoon of October 28th, the Inaugural Meeting of USTB’s Pakistani International Students Alumni Associationand Alumni Congresswas held in Jianlong Conference Hall.
The Inaugural Meeting
Mr. YU Chengwen congratulated the Inaugural Meeting on behalf of the university, pointing out that the establishment of the Pakistani International Students Alumni Association is an important deployment to promote the deep integration of international culture and education. This is a major event for USTB to facilitate the internationalization of education, and also a powerful measure to fulfill the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s reply letter to all Pakistani students of USTB. He hoped the Association would become a bridge for exchanges between China and the rest of the world, with affective interactions as the bond, communication as the basis and activities as the carrier.
Mr. WANG Luning awarded letters of appointment
Mr. WANG Luning unveiled the plaque and presented the flag for the Association, and awarded letters of appointment to the President, Vice President and Secretary General of the Association.
The Meeting passed the Articles of Pakistan International Students Alumni Association. Mr. HE Jin read out the composition of the First Council of the Association, the first President, Vice President, Secretary General, etc.
Toufiq Arbab Muhammad delivered his speech online
In his speech, Toufiq Arbab Muhammad, class of 2011 PhD alumnus and Vice President of the Association, recalled the experience of winning the President's Medal during his study at USTB. “Every moment in the university is full of memories and attachments, USTB is my second home," he said affectionately. As Vice President, he expressed his full support for the Associationand committed to bringing diverse cooperative opportunities to Chinese and Pakistani researchers through the Association.
Iqbal Muhammad Zubair, class of 2010 PhD alumnus and Secretary General of the Association, delivered a report on the preparatory work of the Association. He expressed his heartfelt appreciation toward his Alma Mater for setting up a communication platform and providing continuous support Pakistani alumni. Through this platform, exchanges and cooperation between USTB and alumni will surely create a bright prospect for the development of both sides.
Mr. JIA Zhengjie, President of USTB Canadian Alumni Association, and Mr. HE Yong, President of USTB Shanghai Alumni Association, sent congratulatory messages to the establishment of the Association, expressing their hope that under the leadership of General Alumni Association, we could further strengthen interaction and exchanges, pass on alumni friendship and boost the development of our Alma Mater.
The representative of on-campus international students delivered his speech
Pakistani alumni present and representatives of on-campus international students at the Meeting expressed their congratulations on the establishment of the Association, and anticipatedthat the Association will carry forward the school mottoof “Seeking Truth and Promoting Innovation”and make contributions to cement China-Pakistan friendship. The representatives of international students expressedtheir hope that international students and Chinese students could unite and help each other through their own efforts, to enable international students tobetter understand China, and introduce the China they see and USTB to outstanding students from all over the world.
The USTB Pakistan International Students Alumni Association is the first international students' association of USTB. The establishment of the Associationwill provide global services for broadening the international vision, and offer strong impetus and numerous opportunities for the internationalization and cross-cultural development of USTB. Starting with the Pakistan International Students Alumni Association, USTB will continue to promote the construction of International Students Alumni Associations and contribute to the establishment of a Global Community of Shared Future.
