Recently, the Ministry of Education officially announced the list of university disciplines to take part in the national “Double Ten Thousand Plan” (the Plan) for the purpose of developing first-class undergraduate disciplines. Thirteen majors recommended by USTB, including Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Materials Physics, Metallurgical Engineering, Energy and Power Engineering, Communications Engineering, Automation, Computer Science and Technology, Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, and Information Management and Information Systems, were approved as the first batch of disciplines to take part in the Plan.

Since April 2019, the Ministry of Education has carried out the Plan in order to develop world-class undergraduate disciplines, with the goal of developing around 10,000 national first-class undergraduate disciplines and 10,000 provincial first-class undergraduate disciplines from 2019 to 2021. In 2019, the Ministry of Education identified the first batch of 4,054 national disciplines and 6,210 provincial disciplines to be targeted by the Plan.
In recent years, USTB has continued to adhere to the strategy of improving its personnel training methods, optimizing it’s education structure, and formulating and implementing an action plan for the development of first-class undergraduate disciplines.
The approval of thirteen national first-class undergraduate disciplines demonstrates the Ministry of Education’s recognition of USTB’s efforts in discipline development. In order to fulfill our mission as part of the “Double First Class Plan”, USTB will continue to work towards adhering to professional norms, pursuing educational reforms, and improving teacher and personnel training methods.
