From June 29th to July 5th, Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB, led a team to Europe to visit the global partners of USTB, including RWTH Aachen University and Montanuniversität Leoben. During this period, the delegation also held a USTB Global Talent Communion--the German Station and visited the Consulate-General of China in Munich as well as the Chinese Embassy in Vienna.
Visiting RWTH Aachen University
On June 30th, the delegation of Prof. YANG Renshu went to the RWTH Aachen University to meet with Prof. Ulrich Rüdiger, Rector of RWTH Aachen, and have an in-depth visit to the research institutes at RWTH Aachen. Both sides looked back at the friendship and cooperative outcomes between the two universities in the past 40 years and exchanged opinions on further expanding and deepening cooperation in aspects like scientific research and joint training of students. Prof. Ulrich Rüdiger introduced the overall situation and the future development strategies of the RWTH Aachen University and expressed his sincere hope for both sides' future cooperation in aspects like high-quality talent cultivation. Prof. YANG Renshu said that the next year would be the 45th anniversary of the first cooperation between both sides. He hoped that they can further enhance their cooperation, expand cooperation fields, and enrich cooperation items, making continuous breakthroughs in the cooperation between both countries and both universities.
Exchange meeting with USTB alumni
After the meeting with Prof. Ulrich Rüdiger, the USTB delegation had an exchange with the representatives of USTB alumni studying at the RWTH Aachen University to know more about their studies and life abroad. Prof. YANG Renshu expressed thanks for their close attention and support to the development of USTB and invited the alumni to come back to their Alma mater often. 20+ alumni representatives extended their thanks for the concerns and greetings from the Alma mater and expressed their lofty aspirations in scientific research and serving China with research outcomes in science and technology.
Visiting Consul General TONG Defa
On July 1st, the USTB delegation visited the Consul General TONG Defa in the Consulate-General of China in Munich, to report the latest developments of the cooperation between USTB and several German universities. He hoped that in the future, with the support of the Embassy, USTB can continuously explore more high-quality German educational resources and expand cooperation with German universities in science and education, promoting new developments of higher education opening to the outside world.
USTB Global Talent Communion - German Station

On July 2nd, the USTB delegation held a Global Talent Communion - the German Station in Munich. Prof. YANG Renshu shared the recent development situation of USTB and sincerely invited overseas young elite talents to join USTB. Prof. YIN Shenghua, Head of the USTB Department of Human Resources, introduced USTB's talent policy, talent demand, and talent cultivation plan. Prof. LIAO Qingliang, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, introduced the overall situation of materials discipline. After the meeting, the delegation had an in-depth exchange with the participants and answered their questions in detail. More than 50 young scholars in Germany attended the communion, expressed their attention towards USTB's talent policy, and said they would continue to keep in touch with the university.
Visiting Ambassdor QI Mei
On July 3rd, the USTB delegation visited QI Mei, Ambassador of the Chinese Embassy in Vienna, as well as Mr. YANG Wenxu, the Minister Counselor, and Mr. LEI Fengyun, Counselor for Science & Technology at the Embassy. Prof. YANG Renshu introduced the measures and practices of USTB to actively participate in Chinese-Austrian education, science and technology and cultural exchanges, as well as the deeper and deeper cooperation in student cultivation, teacher exchange, scientific research, and other fields, so as to achieve complementary advantages, mutual benefits and win-win results. Ambassador QI Mei said that he hoped USTB would actively cooperate with Austrian universities and institutes, and that the Embassy would provide full support to USTB's work in science and education.
Visiting Montanuniversität Leoben
Renewal ceremony
From July 4th to 5th, the USTB delegation visited to the Montanuniversität Leoben to meet with Prof. Peter Moser, Rector of Montanuniversität Leoben and renewed the cooperative agreement between both universities. Prof. YANG Renshu mentioned that USTB and the Montanuniversität Leoben officially established a cooperative relationship in 2015. In the past 10 years of cooperation, the two universities have benefited and supported each other on the road to becoming world-renonwed university, and have achieved fruitful results in cooperation and exchanges in various aspects. He hoped that in the future, the two universities would carry out institutional visits, continuously deepening cooperation in talent cultivation and academic exchanges. Prof. Moser mentioned that he hoped the strategic cooperative relationship between the two universities can be further consolidated and both sides can continuously make new achievements in fields like cooperative education and faculty construction, so as to jointly promote the discipline development and internationalization of the two universities.
The visit showed USTB's determination and orientation in international talent introduction and cultivation, laid a solid foundation for USTB's cooperation with overseas colleges and universities in the post-pandemic era, further consolidated and expanded USTB's global cooperation network, further strengthened the emotional connection with overseas partners, and promote the high-quality internationalized discipline construction and USTB's global image to the world.
