Recently, the first plenary meeting of the Third Technical Committee of Beijing Converged Network and Ubiquitous Service Engineering Technology Research Center (hereinafter referred to as “Engineering Center”) was successfully held in conference Room 6 of Techart Plaza. Academician YIN Hao, director of the technical committee, Academician FEI Aiguo, Academician ZHANG Ping, deputy director of the technical Committee, all members of the technical committee and President YANG Renshu attended the meeting.The conference was co-chaired by ZHANG Weidong and YIN Hao.

Prof. YANG Renshu pointed out in his speech that with the rapid development of information field and the arrival of artificial intelligence tide, information discipline plays an increasingly important role in the discipline construction of our university. USTB has always attached great importance to the development and construction of the Engineering Center, promoting the interdisciplinary development of information science and the traditional advantages of USTB, and forming a scientific research and innovation base with USTB characteristics. Experts from the Technical Committee of the Engineering Center have been supporting and helping the development of the center for a long time. It is hoped that the experts will continue to guide the development of the Engineering Center.

Issuing the letter of appointment

Subsequently, Prof. YANG issued the letters of appointment to the director, deputy director, and members of the Third Technical Committee of the Engineering Center.

Mr. HUANGFU Wei reporting to the Technical Committee for Engineering Center’s construction and development of the overall situation. Prof. MA Huimin, Prof. DONG Jiangbo, and Prof. ZHANG Haijun respectively made special reports to the Technical Committee on the key technologies of brain and cognitive inspired UAV perceptual decision making, digital twin technology in mobile communication planning, and the theory and method of spatio-temporal constrained wireless network resource optimization.

On the basis of listening to the above reports, the experts of the Technical Committee analyzed the opportunities and challenges existing in the future development of the Engineering Center, and put forward a series of constructive and enlightening suggestions and guidance. After discussion, the Technical Committee believes that the Engineering Center has a clear positioning and phased goals centering on the national innovation strategy and the development plan of Beijing to accelerate the construction of a global benchmark city for digital economy. Center formed a unity of the high quality of scientific research innovation team, completed in 2021, each work task, the impetus of the development of communication network and the emerging information service is one of the important forces, the key research direction in the Research Center, talent cultivation and achievements transformation has made new progress, to achieve the objectives of the center for the study of 2021. The Technical Committee suggests that the disciplinary advantages of USTB and the industrial advantages of China Mobile Communication Group Design Institute should be further utilized to make breakthroughs in key technologies and pain points of the industry and region, form innovative solutions, and promote the transformation and application of scientific research achievements.

At last, Mr. LONG Keping, the Director of the Engineering Center, thanked the experts of the Technical Committee for their guidance and valuable opinions and suggestions, and said that they would implement the valuable guidance of the Technical Committee into the construction of the Engineering Center in the future. To build the center into an important platform for talents training and scientific research to support the discipline of information and communication engineering in USTB and to serve the development of information and communication technology in Beijing.
