Organized by USTB, the YAC 2022 was Held in Beijing

The 37th Youth Academic Annual Conference of Chinese Association of Automation (YAC 2022) was held in Beijing from Nov 19th to 20th, hosted by the Chinese Association of Automation and organized by the School of Intelligence Science and Technology, USTB. The YAC 2022 features seven conference presentations, more than 100 invited presentations, and 401 presentations of conference papers closely related to automation and artificial intelligence. More than 100 experts and scholars in the fields of automation, artificial intelligence, robotics, and other related fields. Members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the European Academy of Sciences were invited to comprehensively share and interpret the most cutting-edge academic achievements. Over 3,000 people participated in the conference online, and over 50,000 audiences watched the live stream.

On the morning of 19th November, the YAC 2022 was officially opened. Prof. ZHANG Jifeng, Vice President of the Chinese Association of Automation and Director of the Institute of Systems, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Prof. ZHANG Weidong, Vice President of USTB; Prof. SUN Changyin, Vice President of Anhui University, Chairman of this conference; delivered opening speeches respectively, in which they congratulated the successful start of YAC 2022and extended a warm welcome to the participants. Prof. HE Wei, Director of the Youth Working Committee and Dean of the USTB School of Intelligence Science and Technology presided over the opening ceremony.

During the Conference, Prof. WANG Yaonan, a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering, professor from Hunan University; Prof. QIAO Hong, a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, researcher of the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Prof. ZHANG Jifeng, Vice Chairman of Chinese Association of Automation, and professor of Institute of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Prof. WANG Long from Peking University; Prof. GUAN Xinping, member and Executive Director of Chinese Association of Automation, Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Prof. LI Yibin from Shandong University and Prof. XIONG Rong from Zhejiang University respectively presented on the following topics: “Intelligent Unmanned Systems Technology and Development Trend”, “High Performance Robot Operations with Limited Ontology and Limited Sensing Precision -- Inspired Robot Systems”, “Basic Issues and Latest Progress of Quantitative System Control”, “Network Gaming and Swarm Intelligence”, “Perception-Transmission-Control Integration Theory and Technology of Industrial Network Systems”, “Key Technologies of Hydraulically Driven Leg-arm Cooperative Mobile Robot” and “Research on Key Technologies of Human-machine Knowledge Transfer” . The reports were informative, professional, and of high academic importance, involving research progress, theory, and application problems in various fields.

In addition to the excellent conference presentations, this conference also features more than 20 invited presentation forums, invited thematic panels, oral presentations, and poster sessions, including the “24th Frontiers of ACTA AUTOMATICA SINICA”, the “21st CAA Young Scientists Forum”, “Ministry of Education High-level Talent Program Scholars Forum,” “National Distinguished Young Scholars Forum,” “National Overseas High-level Talents Program Scholars Forum,” and “Ten-Thousand-Talents Program Scholars Forum.” “National Outstanding Young Scholars Forum,” “Youth-Talents Lifting Forum,” “CAA Outstanding Ph.D. Forum,” “BoXin Program Forum,” “Analysis and Control of Distributed Parameter Systems,” “Intelligent Sensing and Control of Unmanned Vehicles,” “Intelligent Control and Application of Autonomous Unmanned Systems,” etc.

In the afternoon of November 19th November, more than 100 experts and scholars from various universities across China presented theme reports on six invited topics, namely “Analysis and Control of Distributed Parameter Systems,” “Complex Control System Network and Physical Space Security,” “Human-Machine Interaction and Coordination Control of Wearable Robots,” “Collaborative Decision Making and Control of Multi-Robot Systems,” “Collaborative Control and Safety Analysis of Multi-Intelligent Body Systems,” and “Innovative Research on Artificial Intelligence for New Electric Power Systems.”

Online defenses of excellent academic papers

On the same afternoon, a defense was organized for the selection of the YAC 2022 Outstanding Dissertation Award. Twelve authors of the papers that were shortlisted for the Outstanding Paper Award after peer review had an online defense. According to the voting of the award committee, two academic papers, including Mr. WANG Mengzhi from Zhejiang University and Ms. MU Lingxia from the Xi'an University of Technology, were awarded the Best Thesis Award; two academic papers, including Mr. ZHAO Zhijia from Guangzhou University and Mr. PENG Guangzhu from the Nanjing University of Information Engineering, were awarded the Best Application Paper Award; two papers, including LIN Qiong from Hunan University and LIU Zhaoyuan from Nankai University, were awarded the Best Student Paper Award, and other candidates were nominated for the Best Paper Award.

On the afternoon of November 20th, the conference organized seven invited forums on reports and particular themes, including the “CAA Outstanding Ph.D. Forum,” “Youth-Talents Lifting Forum,” “BoXin Program Forum,” “Brain-Computer Intelligence and Intelligent Health,” “Intelligent Sensing and Control of Unmanned Vehicles,” “Intelligent Control and Application of Autonomous Unmanned Systems,” “System Design, Modeling and Application for Autonomous Robots.” Oral presentations of papers and poster sessions were also held.

During the meeting, Prof. HE Wei organized the annual working meeting of the Youth Working Committee at the Chinese Association of Automation. At the meeting, he reported the progress of the work related to the Youth Working Committee in 2022, the preparation of this meeting, and the co-option of new members. In the voting session of the new members, after the new applicants introduced themselves, 89 new members were voted on for 2022. The meeting discussed and decided that Anhui University would host the 2023 Annual Youth Academic Conference of the Chinese Association of Automation (YAC 2023).

This conference comprehensively shared and interpreted the latest cutting-edge academic achievements in automation, artificial intelligence, and robotics, providing a platform for young scholars to discuss and exchange ideas in depth. The Conference's success promoted discipline building and integration in automation and artificial intelligence and other related fields, strengthened the exchange and cooperation of young talents in related fields, and laid the foundation for developing young talents.
