On the morning of May 3rd, the Construction Leading Group of the USTB Xiong’an Campus(hereinafter referred to as the “Leading Group”) held its first plenary meeting.

Mr. WU Guilong, Chancellor of USTB and leader of the Leading Group; Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB and leader of the Leading Group; all other USTB leaders; members of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and heads of member units of the Leading Group attended the meeting; and heads of departments of the Xiong’an Campus construction project listened to the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Mr. WU Guilong.

At the meeting, Mr. JIN Rendong, deputy director of the Xiong’an Campus construction project, reported on the main ideas of the overall planning and construction of the Xiong’an Campus. Leaders at the meeting exchanged in-depth views on the planning and construction of the Campus and put forward their suggestions for the next work phase.

The leadership group unanimously agreed that the construction of the Xiong’an Campus carries the long-standing aspirations of all teachers, students, and alumni of the university, and is an important step toward the goal of building a world-class university with distinctive characteristics and significant influence, and is a concrete action of USTB to serve the major strategies of the country’s “most fundamental interests”. The planning and construction of the Xiong’an Campus should thoroughly implement the spirit of President XI Jinping’s important letter to the senior professors of the USTB, adhere to creating distinctive characteristics, strive for first-class, and offer a first-class campus environment for cultivating more high-quality talents with ideals and skills; highlight the concept of global vision, international standards, Chinese characteristics, and with the horizon, insist on the principles of long-term, overall planning, reasonable design, and step-by-step implementation, and build a green and modern smart campus with a high starting point and standard. 

The meeting requested that the Xiong’an Campus construction project should serve the major national strategies, the university’s “Double First-class” construction, and the needs of the majority of teachers and students via taking extensive consultation of all aspects of advice and suggestions to steadily promote the planning and construction of the Campus; all departments of USTB should actively support, participate, and strengthen cooperation to pool the wisdom and strength of the whole USTB for contributing to the construction of Xiong’an Campus.
