On the afternoon of November 26th, the 103rd Teacher Symposium in Materials Science was held the Academic Conference Hall. Prof. MAO Xinping, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was invited as the guest to give a report entitled “The Development and Application of Low Cost and High Performance Green Advanced Automobile Steel". The symposium was attended by Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB, scholars in the fields of materials science and metallurgical engineering, and more than three hundred teachers and students.
Before the symposium, Prof. YANG Huai, dean of the Institute for Advanced Materials and Technology, presented Prof. MAO Xinping with a souvenir medal of the symposium.
Prof. MAO gave a detailed introduction of the development history and cutting-edge technology of automobile steel on the topics of "green", "high performance", and "low cost". Based on the current development of the automobile industry in China and abroad, he pointed out that the bottleneck of China's automobile industry has been energy supply, and emphasized that green automotive materials with low cost and high performance will be the trend in the future.
In the Q&A session, Prof. MAO answered questions from teachers and students. When it comes to the current situation with China;s domestic automobile steel industry, he said with great confidence that China's production and development ability in automobile steel is leading the world and many of our products have already been applied by first-line automobile brands. He encouraged all students to be confident in their majors and to pursue greater breakthroughs and innovation in metal materials development, making contribution to China's materials science development.
