On November 26th, USTB signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Rio Tinto Group during the 2nd China International Supply Chain Expo. The event was attended by Mr. Dominic Barton, Chair of the Rio Tinto Group, and Prof. WANG Luning, Vice President of USTB.
The Signing Ceremony
At the signing ceremony, Prof. WANG Luning and Mr. Dan Walker, Chief Innovation Officer of Rio Tinto Group, signed the MoU on-site. USTB and Rio Tinto Group will establish a Low-Carbon Innovation Award, hold technical exchange meetings, and jointly promote innovation and green low-carbon transformation in the steel industry, contributing more to global sustainable development.
Mr. Dan Walker emphasized that in the future, both parties will collaborate to explore innovative solutions in carbon reduction and industrial waste management, jointly advancing talent development. He noted that Rio Tinto Group has always been committed to providing the materials the world needs in a better way. This cooperation not only reinforces the group’s commitment to sustainable development but also empowers the cultivation of the next generation of industry leaders.
Prof. WANG Luning provided a brief introduction to the university’s development. He pointed out that Rio Tinto Group is a leading enterprise in the mining industry and an active practitioner in mineral resource development and green low-carbon advancement. He stated that the university will work with Rio Tinto Group to jointly drive innovation and green low-carbon transformation in the steel industry, contributing more to global sustainable development.
