On April 13th, 30 teachers and students representing USTB’s “Youth Commandos" returned safely follow a 14-day quarantine in a hotel following the successful completion of their anti-epidemic volunteer activities at the China Intentional Exhibition Center.
Since the outbreak of the coronavirus, the Party Committee of USTB has responded to the call of the Central Committee of the CPC and the State Council, and has worked to enact measures aimed at the prevention and control of the epidemic. On March 22nd, in order to assist with quarantine regulations aimed at overseas travelers entering Beijing, USTB quickly assembled a volunteer force of students to rush to the China International Exhibition Center in order to ensure the health and safety of Beijing and its residence.
During their service period, the teachers and students were mainly responsible for recording and checking the information of those entering China, completing daily updates of the number of international arrivals, and assisting CAAC, Air China, Beijing-Capital International Airport and other organizations in providing on-site guidance, translation services, consultations and other work.
The total service time of the USTB volunteers was 1,530 hours, with those participating having been highly recognized by leaders at all levels for their excellent work and solid achievements. HE Junke, the first Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, said that the young volunteers of USTB demonstrated high professional standards, excellent quality of service and valuable moral growth, setting a good example for all. ZHANG Qiang, XIONG Zhuo, LI Jian, and others sincerely thanked and praised the contributions of the teachers and students for helping to ensure the continued health of the capitol and nation.
In addition, the work and deeds of the volunteers were reported widely in the mainstream media, including the People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, China National Radio, CCTV Financial Channel, China Youth Daily, BTV, etc.
During their volunteer service, the “youth commandos” took the bull by the horns, charged ahead, and bravely shouldered a heavy burden while working together to overcome all difficulties. They demonstrated the spirit of the young teachers and students of USTB in showing their willingness to take on great responsibility and rise to any challenge, while embodying USTB’s philosophy and goal of educating students based on morality.
