On July 15^th, Mr. ZHANG Haideng, Deputy Director of the Department of Raw Materials Industry from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), along with his colleagues, visited our school for investigation. Prof. YANG Renshu, President of USTB; Prof. YAN Xiangbin and Prof. WANG Luning, Vice Presidents of USTB, accompanied the investigation.

Mr. Zhang Haideng and his colleagues came to the State Key Laboratory for Advanced Metals and Materials, the Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Materials Genome Engineering, the National Materials Corrosion and Protection Data Center, and the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Metallurgy, listened to relevant work reports and visited the exhibition of scientific and technological achievements, to understand the implementation of technology transformation and the latest scientific research progress.

Subsequently, the two parties held a symposium in Conference Room 306 of the Administration Building, presided over by Prof. YAN Xiangbin. During the meeting, Dr. CHEN Yulai, Prof. XU Ke, Prof. LI Kejiang, and Prof. FENG Mei successively made special reports on the research results in the fields of new technology of the production of iron and steel, intelligent green construction of iron and steel enterprises, and high-quality development of the iron and steel industry. And Prof. ZHU Rong shared online the research results obtained in the low carbon technology of iron and steel metallurgy in recent years. Mr. Zhang Haideng spoke highly of the school’s research achievements in the field of iron and steel metallurgy in recent years, and emphasized that USTB should continue to give full play to its research advantages in metallurgy and materials under the guidance of the spirit of President XI Jinping’s important reply, focus on industry transformation and upgrading and national strategic requirements, aim at the frontiers of world science and technology development, and promote more original achievements output. He hoped that the two sides could further enhance exchanges and interactions, conduct cooperative research and work discussions on technological innovation of iron and steel production, operation, and management of iron and steel enterprises, as well as green development of the iron and steel industry, so as to push the transformation and development of China’s iron and steel industry to a new level.
