On 30th April, the University of Science and Technology Beijing-De Montfort University Confucius Institute, Leicester City Hall, and Leicester International Taijiquan and Shaolin Wushu Association jointly celebrated the World Tai Chi Day at Green Dragon Square in the city center of Leicester.
During the event, a lion dance performance featuring Chinese cultural characteristics was first performed, which attracted many audiences. Afterward, the masters of the International Taijiquan and Shaolin Wushu Association presented Tai Chi and martial arts, which were fully appreciated by the audience. The Confucius Institute at De Montfort University also presented a wonderful Tai Chi fan dance. Finally, Derek, the head of the Tai Chi Association, guided the audience to have a taster of the Yang family Tai chi. The participants were all fully immersed in Chinese culture.

This event further promoted Chinese Tai Chi culture locally, with more and more local people experiencing Tai Chi. This event has also marked the beginning of the weekly morning Tai Chi sessions.
