On March 19th, Mr. Peter Harrison, Senior Vice President of Physical Sciences at Elsevier, Ms. Judy Bai, Global Publishing Director for Materials Science at Elsevier , and four other delegates visited USTB for communication and exchange. Prof. JIAO Shuqiang, Vice President of USTB, met with the delegation. The symposium was presided over by Prof. ZHANG Dawei, Director of the Office of International Affairs.

Prof. JIAO introduced the USTB's latest progress in discipline development, journal development, and international collaboration. He welcomed Mr. Peter Harrison's revisit and proposed that both sides could continuously deepen cooperation and expand its scope to jointly advance scientific research development.

Mr. Peter Harrison emphasized Elsevier's commitment to partnering with USTB, noting the strong foundation already established. He expressed willingness to strengthen collaboration across journal publishing, editorial services, and academic events to enhance Chinese scholars' global academic influence.
Site of the symposium
Subsequently, the two sides discussed academic journal development, research publication, and international academic forum cooperation. They agreed to build a strategic partnership under the "Elsevier-USTB" framework, with plans to collaborate on high-level international conferences, high-quality journal clusters, joint publication of technology blue papers or thematic reports, and research talent support. Both parties pledged to contribute actively to academic exchange, scientific research, and talent cultivation.
Following the symposium, the delegation visited the Exhibition Hall at the State Key Laboratory for Advanced Metals and Materials, the Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Materials Genome Engineering, the National Materials Corrosion and Protection Scientific Data Center, and the Mineral and Rock Specimen Exhibition Hall of the School of Civil and Resource Engineering of USTB.
Relevant personnel from the Journal Publishing Center, the School of Energy and Environmental Engineering, the School of Intelligence Science and Technology, the School of Chemistry and Biological Engineering, and the Institute of Cultural Heritage and History of Science & Technology participated in the symposium.
