The USTB Delegation Visited the Palace Museum for Research and Discussion

On April 10th, Mr. WU Guilong, Chancellor of USTB led a delegation to the Palace Museum for research and discussion. The symposium was held in Jingsheng Zhai, Jianfu Garden of the Palace Museum. Dr. WANG Xudong, Director of the Palace Museum; Mr. LUO Xianliang, Secretary and Deputy Director of the Palace Museum; and Prof. PENG Qinghong, Vice President of USTB, attended the symposium. The symposium was presided over by Prof. REN Wanping, Deputy Director of the Palace Museum, and relevant officials from the two sides participated in the symposium.

Mr.WU Guilong delivered a speech

At the meeting, Mr. WU Guilong introduced the recent development of USTB regarding platform construction, talent cultivation, faculty team building, and integration of industry and education. He said that guided by the spirit of the important reply letters by President XI Jinping, the two sides can continue to expand cooperation areas in the future, achieve complementary advantages, jointly cultivate more outstanding talents, and make greater contributions to the protection of cultural relics and cultural inheritance of China.

Dr. WANG Xudong delivered a speech

Dr. WANG Xudong pointed out that the collection of cultural relics in the Palace Museum basically covers all categories, and the museum has excellent long-term cooperative relations with USTB and many alumni of USTB work there. He said that the Palace Museum would further uphold the attitude of openness and cooperation, continue to promote demands and look forward to the two sides continuing to carry out in-depth cooperation in the restoration of ancient and traditional crafts, cultural relic deterioration mechanism, cultural relic protection technology and materials, preventive protection, cultural relic digital resources utilization and other aspects, so as to effectively protect and carry forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture carried by the Palace Museum.

Site of the symposium

The two sides had in-depth exchanges on scientific research and innovation cooperation, international exchanges, high-level personnel training, and jointly promoting cultural inheritance and innovation, and agreed to renew the strategic cooperation agreement as soon as possible. After the forum, Mr. WU Guilong and his delegation conducted field research on the Palace Museum Cultural Relics Hospital and the ancient construction protection site of the Hall of Fengxian and gathered in-depth knowledge of the cases of cultural relic protection and the application and implementation of its standards. The relevant personnel in charge of the Science and Technology Department of the Palace Museum, the Standardization Institute of Cultural Relic Protection, and the Department of Ancient Construction accompanied the investigation.
